PESHAWAR, April 15: The NWFP Assembly’s sub-committee on local government and rural development has called for an early start of work on Karak- Sabirabad road.

A meeting of the committee was held here on Saturday. It was presided over by MPA Maulana Tajul Amin Jabal and attended by Mian Nisar and others.

The meeting had a discussion on the road project. Officials of the department concerned cited bad weather conditions as a major hurdle in the early start of the work but assured the committee members that the work would start on May 12.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jabal said provision of basic amenities of life to the people was their primary duty as their voters had expectations with them.

He said that government employees should keep close liaison with the masses which would help find lasting solutions for public problems.

He warned officials that dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.

PA SPEAKER: NWFP Assembly Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan has expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of work on the Buner-Ambella Pass road and ordered that the construction be expedited.

Talking to the staff and contractors during a surprise visit to the road on Saturday, the speaker said the government had started work on a network of metalled roads in the province at a cost of billions of rupees.

However, people were suffering because of slow pace of work on the road projects, he said.—APP
