GUJRANWALA, April 15: The Supreme Court on Saturday took a suo motu notice of confirming interim bails of dacoits by a local court and sought order’s true copy from the ADSJ concerned besides issuing a notice to the attorney general for April 18.

Reports said that Elite Force ASI Afzaal Ahmad had arrested some dacoits after an encounter and got registered a criminal case against them in Satellite Town. However, the accused succeeded in getting interim bails from a local court which were later confirmed by ADSJ Abid Hussain Qureshi.

While some influential people and bureaucrats piled pressure on the complainant ASI to get the accused cleared from the case. The complainant reportedly informed the SC chief justice through an application that the accused were sons of bureaucrats, who were exerting pressure on him.

TWO COMMIT SUICIDE: Two girls committed suicide by taking poisonous pills over some domestic issues here on Saturday.

Reports said that Naurin of Alipur Chattha and Saadia of Rahwali quarrelled with their parents. They died while being taken to the local DHQ Hospital.

INJURED: Two youths were shot at and injured by their rivals in Wazirabad tehsil court on Saturday.

Victims Sajid and Yasir of the Heera group and Javed of the Jeda group went to court for pursuing their cases. After a squabble on court premises, the Jeda group opened fire on their rivals, injuring them seriously. They were rushed to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in serious condition.

Police have registered a case against the accused.

acquitted: Anti-terrorism court no 2 judge Tariq Iftikhar on Saturday acquitted 18 accused in a local elections violence case after the prosecution failed to prove the charges.

According to the prosecution, as many as 50 assailants had attacked polling station No 8, Khiali Shahpur and set on fire an official jeep of assistant returning officer Tasir Ahmad, besides injuring him and his guard on the election day.
