KARACHI, April 16: Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Sindh, Dr Mumtaz Memon has demanded that assassins of ulema be exposed and given exemplary punishment.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that gangs of killers had already assassinated quite a big number of ulema, including Mufti Shamzai, and other prominent social and political figures in Karachi. He said that it was time to expose the killers and their patrons involved in the Nishtar Park blast so that they could be taken to task.

He charged that the Sindh government was trying to cover up its inefficiency and shortcomings. Instead of discharging properly its duty of provide security to the life and property of citizens, it was trying to block the holding of religious gatherings, he deplored.

Dr Memon alleged that the rulers were busy prolonging their rule by undermining the very ideological foundations of the country. He said that like those in the US, the rulers in Pakistan were also following double standards in their war against terrorism. He said that the US was providing shelter to the terrorist state, Israel, whereas the rulers in Pakistan were harbouring terrorist groups.

The JI leader said that the responsibility of the Nishtar Park blast rested on Sindh governor and home minister who had failed to ensure security to common citizen.—PPI
