KARACHI, April 16: Ulema belonging to Ahle Sunnat have demanded that the mastermind behind the Nishtar Park tragedy be unearthed and brought to book.

They also pledged to continue the mission of the martyrs of the April 11 tragedy, and resolved that they would not allow the saboteurs of the Milad-i-Mustafa to succeed in their nefarious designs.

The ulema were speaking at a condolence meeting held on Sunday in the New Memon Masjid, Boulton Market, for over 50 victims of the Nishtar Park blast, which eliminated almost the entire top leadership of the Sunni Tehrik.

Mufti Muneebur Rehman noted that the tragic incident had deprived Ahle Sunnat of its great asset. He asked the government to mobilise all its investigation agencies to expose all those who were involved, including plotters, in the terrorist attack.

He stressed the need for resolving the mystery in a logical and appropriate way, saying that the traditional pattern of investigation was not acceptable to Ahle Sunnat leaders. He said whether the bomb was planted or carried by a suicide bomber, the attack was definitely targeted at the Sunni leadership.

Shah Turabul Haq said that the incident was a conspiracy to sabotage the Mehfil-i-Milad. He said the conspirators would not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs, adding that public gatherings in connection with the Miladun Nabi (SAW) would continue to be held ‘till the Day of Judgment’.

He asked the government to complete the blast investigation in a shortest possible time and bring the culprits to book.

Qari Khalilur Rehman expressed gratitude on behalf of the Sunni Tehrik to all organizations for expressing concern over the incident and sharing the shock and grief over the loss of the precious lives. He assured the meeting that whatever the course of action decided by ulema in this regard, they would find ST in the forefront.

Haji Mohammad Hanif Tayyeb suggested that all eminent ulema should sit together to take stock of the situation and join in the government agencies in the investigation, besides formulating an effective line of action.

Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair said that it was difficult to have trust in the government with regard to an impartial investigation. Claiming that the government’s own hands were stained with blood, he demanded investigation to be conducted by federal agencies.

Maulana Mohammad Qasim Jalali, Maulana Abrar Ahmad Rehmani, Maulana Ghulam Dastgir, Sahibzada Rehan Ahmad Nomani, Maulana Ghulam Ahmad Sayalvi and Mufti Abdul Aleem Hazarvi also spoke on the occasion.
