Published April 21, 2006

LONDON, April 20: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has called upon President Pervez Musharraf to immediately withdraw troops from North and South Waziristan, Bajaur Agency and Balochistan and solve the problems in the areas by negotiations and understanding.

In a statement issued here on Thursday evening, he also appealed to the people of the areas to demonstrate patience, stop their armed activities in the interest of the country’s security and resolve the issues through negotiations.

Mr Hussain said that forces could be deployed along the Afghan border, but it was necessary to avoid armed actions inside Pakistani territories.
