COLOMBO, April 24: The Sri Lankan military has beefed up security in Colombo and other southern areas after receiving intelligence reports that suicide squads have infiltrated the southern region of the country.
According to military officials, ten suicide cadres raised by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have entered Colombo and key southern districts.
The officials said an LTTE militant tasked with assassinating a minister was admitted to hospital in critical condition on Sunday after he swallowed a cyanide capsule following his arrest.
