NAWABSHAH, April 24: The executive engineer of Irrigation Division, Nawabshah, announced on Monday a fresh rotation programme due to 50 per cent shortage of water in main Rohri canal.
The rotation programme puts Rohri canal’s branches and distributaries in two groups.
In Group-I, Thul and its system, Talhi minor, Kahkat, Manharo, San, Pabjo, Mangio, Forest, Dalel Dero, Zardari, Shahbaz, Batho minors, Rein distributary and its system and Nakur distributary would remain closed from April 25 to May 1.
In Group-II, Thul branch and its system, Qazi Ahmed minor, Jado, Jan Mohammad, Waryam, Bilawal Zardari, Chanesar, Attur, Khair Shah minors, Khadar, Sujawal, Jamal Shah and Rein distributaries would remain closed on May 1-8.
Rs10m ROBBERY: A gang of armed robbers barged into a Pakistan Tobacco Company warehouse near Trey Water and made away with cigarettes worth Rs10 million after overpowering the guards late Sunday night.
Reports said the robbers snatched rifles from the guards and held them at gunpoint as their accomplices loaded the cartons of cigarettes onto two vans they had come by and escaped.
