RIYADH, April 28: Saudi Arabia will set up its first special security court this year to try those involved in acts of terrorism, an official said on Friday.
Sheikh Abdel Mohsen Obeikan, an adviser at the justice ministry, said King Abdullah would appoint members of the court on the recommendation of the ministries of interior and justice.
The courts will be based in Riyadh and will include a number of political and security advisers.
According to Sheikh Obeikan, rulings of the special courts cannot be challenged or appealed against.
The adviser said the trial of terror suspects would be public ‘in line with trial rulings, unless there are very confidential matters that need to be kept secret’.
