KARACHI, April 28: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan on Friday criticised the disappearance of citizens and political activists and demanded of the government to produce them before courts if wanted in any case, otherwise they should be released.

HRCP Secretary-General Iqbal Haider addressing a rally of political and trade union activists as well leaders and workers of various parties at the Regal Chowk, said that illegal arrests and disappearance of citizens, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan was a proof of their innocence.

Had there been any involvement of these victims in illegal activities, the government would have charged them under law and produced them in courts, he added.

Mr Haider alleged that the authorities had adopted a strange policy of refusing to admit the arrest of citizens, which was a denial of the basic rights of a citizen. He urged the government to unconditionally release them.—PPI
