Bus hijacked

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, April 28: Armed men hijacked on Friday a bus carrying 26 passengers to the border town of Chaman. According to sources, when the bus reached the Jungle Pir Alizai area some 90 km from here, around a dozen armed men forced it to stop by putting barricades on the national highway. They assaulted the driver and commandeered the bus to some unknown place. The passengers were, however, freed at a place about one kilometre away.

The director general of Balochistan Levies, Hamayun Khan Jogezai, confirmed the incident and said the passenger bus had been hijacked following a dispute over ‘payment of instalments’.

He said that after receiving information about the hijacking, a party of Levies personnel launched a search for the bus. The vehicle was not traced till late night.
