KARACHI, May 4 : Pakistan cricket legends Javed Miandad and Mushtaq Mohammad lashed out Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on hiring a fielding coach for the national team.

“It's like a joke that somebody is coming to teach fielding to the players that include many 'Test great', who have played a lot of international cricket for their country”, Miandad told reporters on Wednesday.

PCB is set to hire South African Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach for two weeks ahead of Pakistan's high profile tour of England.

“No doubt fielding has been a gray area for the Pakistan team but I don't think there is need for a specific fielding coach, as it is the duty of team's coach,” he said.

Mushtaq , also a former skipper and coach of the national team, supported Miandad's point of view saying hiring a fielding coach would be a useless exercise.

“Hiring fielding coach is not necessary because anyone who plays cricket can be a good fielder without anybody's help, if he wants,” he added.
