SYDNEY, May 5: Australia’s trade deficit rose sharply to a worse-than-expected 1.5 billion dollars ($1.2 billion) in March after cyclones disrupted exports from mining regions in the country’s north and west, the government said on Friday.
The March figure for trade in goods and services, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, represented a significant deterioration from the deficit of 425m dollars in February, revised down from the previous estimate of 595m dollars.—AFP
