LAHORE, May 5: A committee set up to review the chief minister’s police reforms programme on Friday directed senior police officers to submit their suggestions and recommendations.
The committee headed by Additional IG Dr Azhar Hasan Nadeem met at the Central Police Office, which was attended by senior police officers. Punjab IGP Ziaul Hasan Khan, later, reviewed the working of the committee, who also issued directions as to how the recommendations should be analysed for implementation.
The committee discussed at length the setting up of FIR registration centres, launching of double shift system in police stations of five big cities, establishment of a police foundation, a police hospital project, inspection and vigilance at district and regional levels and special allowances for SHOs and district police heads.
The additional IG issued in writing instructions to all senior police officers concerned as to how they should submit their recommendations for their further presentation to Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.
VIGILANCE CELL: The city police chief, Additional IG Khwaja Khalid Farooq, on Friday set up a Vigilance Cell to improve the working of police force and monitor its performance.
