KARACHI, May 24: A record cargo volume of 117,606 tons comprising 84,483 tons of import and 33,123 tons of export tonnage was handled at port on Tuesday, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Berthing was also active as three ships were accommodated berths.

Meanwhile, three more containers vessels also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy stood at 78 per cent as seven ships were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, sugar, diesel oil, chemicals and iron ore.

Sailing was also active as Liquid Success and Nedlloyd Muscat left the port while Sealand Mariner, Asian

Trader and Sita Mia were due to depart.

Three ships, Taipan-I, MT Vema Ocean and Paula, were expected to reach the port on Thursday.
