KHAIRPUR: Breach in Abul wah affects crops

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, May 28: A large number of farmers belonging to Paryal Narejo, Saheb Dino Maitlo and other villages staged a demonstration in Ahmedpur on Sunday.

Led by Nek Mohammad, the protesters raised slogans against irrigation officials due to whose negligence, they alleged, the breach developed in Abul wah west feeder at RD-128 on Saturday.

They said that on May 18, an 80-foot breach occurred submerging houses and crops. They demanded compensation for the damage and an inquiry into the matter.

The taluka nazim of Kingri and UC nazim of Ahmedpur also demanded of the Sindh irrigation minister to conduct an inquiry into the causes of the breaches that occurred twice in eight days.

RESHUFFLE: Khairpur DCO Rizwan Memon was transferred and directed to report to the S&GAD.

EDO (revenue) Qazi Shahid Parvez replaced the outgoing DCO while Tameezuddin Khuhro was appointed as EDO revenue of the district.
