ATTOCK, May 28: District and Sessions Judge, Attock, Chaudhry Mohammad Younis has directed the district police officer (DPO) to initiate departmental action against two police officials of Pindigheb for illegally detaining and torturing a low-paid government employee.
The judge also ordered the judicial magistrate to take legal action as per law against the policemen and submit a report to him.
The sessions judge took the action on Saturday after the medical examination report submitted by a three-member medical board of the district headquarters hospital proved physical torture on Amjad Hussain.
Amjad Hussain, a peon in Pindigheb, had filed a complaint with the DSJ on May 23, stating that he was detained illegally and physically assaulted by head constable Wajid Khan and constable Munir of the Pindigheb post on May 18 without any reason.
After five days when his condition deteriorated the police set him free by taking a bribe of Rs2,500, he alleged. When the victim approached the Pindigheb tehsil headquarters hospital for treatment and medical examination, he was shunted out from there by the police officials.—Correspondent
