ISLAMABAD, May 28: Pakistan should bring back penalty corner ace Sohail Abbas and midfielder Waseem Ahmed to strengthen their side ahead of the World Cup, Dutch player Geerat Jan Derikx said on Sunday.

Derikx, who arrived in Islamabad to visit quake-affected areas, was talking to Dawn.

"Both Sohail and Waseem are great players and their presence would put other teams under pressure,” said Derikx, who is to represent the Netherlands in this year's Champions Trophy.

The Dutchman said Pakistan's current duo of penalty corner hitters, Imran Warsi and Mohammad Imran, could not match Sohail's expertise.

Interestingly, Derikx’s comments came just a day after the president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Tariq Kirmani, said Sohail's international career was over.
