Aqeel Khan beaten in quarterfinal

KARACHI, June 2: Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan's campaign in the ITF Futures tournament in Dehra Dun (India) ended in the quarterfinals when he fell to top seed Henry Adjei-Darko of Ghana on Thursday.

According to results made available here, Aqeel failed to give his higher-rated opponent much of a fight and lost in straight sets.

Adjei-Darko moved into the semifinals of the US$15,000 tournament where he was drawn against Nick Monroe of United States.

It was Aqeel's second quarterfinal finish in a row in India. He also lost in the last-eight stage of another ITF Futures event held in New Delhi last week.

Results: (quarterfinals) Henry Adjei-Darko (GHA) bt Aqeel Khan (PAK) 6-0 6-4 Nick Monroe (USA) bt Vinod Sridhar (IND) 6-3 6-1 Vivek SHokeen (IND) bt Karan Rastogi Togi (IND) 6-3 7-5 Sunil-Kumar Sipaeya (IND) bt Alexey Kedriouk (KAZ) 6-2 3-6 6-2.—PPI
