Schools Cricket: Mesmerising spell by Shahzaib


KARACHI, June 2: Slow left-arm spinner Shahzaib Khan grabbed nine wickets for a mere nine runs to spin Zahoor Government Boys Secondary School (GBSS) to a commanding ten wicket victory against Dhaka Secondary in PCB Inter- School cricket championship match at Student Ground on Thursday.

Dhaka Secondary, batting first, crashed at 48 all out in 19.3 overs.

Besides Shahzaib's six wickets, off-break-bowler Tabish Nawab got two wickets for nine runs.

Zahoor GBSS in reply romped home without losing any wicket. Zakir Afridi finished unbeaten on 27 with three 6s and Manan Aftab at 21 not out.

At Landhi Gymkhana ground Daffodils School surprised Ebrahim Alibahi School winning by 43 runs victory in low scoring-match.

Daffodils were bowled out for 131 in the 36th overs with left arm spinner Faizan Kazmi taking three wickets for ten runs. Ebrahim Ali in response were bundled out for 88 in 33rd over. Spinners Ishtique Ghori and Mudassar Manzoor took three wickets each.

New Oxford defeated Central City Grammar by two wickets after a well and keenly contested tie at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium. Tariq Hussain hit a match winning 37.

At TMC Ground, Pak Folks beat Karachi Secondary by 25 runs. Pacer Saadat Ali snapped-up three wickets for 22 runs.

Daffodils 131 all out in 35.4 overs (Ishtiaq Ghori 31 and Waseem Razzak 24, Faizan Kazmi 3/10, Naveed Ahmed 2/16 and Ejaz Tanoli 2/41) GBSS Ebrahim Ali Bhai 88 all out in 32.2 overs (Naveed Ahmed 23.Ishtiaq Ghori 3/11, Muddasar Manzoor 3/21, Israrul Haq 2/22).

New Oxford School beat Central City Grammar School by 2 wickets.

Central City Grammar 136 all out in 40.5 overs (Hanif Junejo 43, Owais Ahmed 36, M.Zarim 2/17, Tariq Hussain 2/19).

New Oxford School 137/8 in 38.5 overs, Tariq Hussain 37, Atif Khan 21, M Junaid 3/19, Sajid Ali 3/23).

Pak Folks School beat Karachi Secondary School by 25 runs. Pak Folks 152 all out in 39.1 overs (S. Faraz 27, M. Junaid 25 and Azeem Shah 25, Umair Khan 2/11, Ubaidur Rehman 2/7 and Aftab Ali 2/28) Karachi Secondary School 127 all out in 37 overs (Ubaidur Rehman 26, Hairs 22, Shayan Ali 19,Sadat Ali 3/22, S.Ubaid 2/20).
