KARACHI: Three shot dead by robbers

KARACHI, June 8: A young man was shot dead on resisting a cellphone snatching attempt on the main Korangi Road late Wednesday night.

Police said Imran Haider, 30, an employee at a DHA club, was returning home after work when he was intercepted by unknown persons who tried to snatch his cellphone and cash. On his resistance, the suspects shot him in the neck and fled.

Following the incident, police reached the spot after lapse of considerable time and shifted the victim to the Jinnah Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim hailing from Sahiwal was headed to his home in Agra Taj Colony. His uncle Ghulam Qadir lodged an FIR at the DHA against unknown persons.

In another incident, a chowkidar who was shot at during a cellphone snatching attempt in Shershah late Wednesday night died early Thursday morning.

Police said two suspects on a motorcycle approached Wahid Bux, 36, a chowkidar at an under-construction building site.

Initially they asked for an address to seek his attention before attempting to snatch his cellphone. On resistance, they shot him taking away his cellphone, police said.

A watchman was shot dead when he put up resistance to bandits in Shershah.

Wahid Bux, 45, was on duty at a factory when unidentified people approached him and asked about an address. As he was telling them the direction, the unknown people took Wahid at gunpoint and attempted to loot his cash and belongings. Wahid, resident of Lyari, put up strong resistance. The bandits shot him and fled with the loot. Wahid suffered fatal bullet wounds.
