PESHAWAR, June 13: NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai has given August 14 as the date for resolution of coal mine dispute in Orakzai Agency, urging the respective tribes to arrive at a negotiated and peaceful settlement of the dispute within the given time.

“Peaceful settlement of all intra and inter-tribal disputes is imperative for development,” he said while speaking to a jirga of Orakzai Agency that called on him here on Tuesday.

The jirga comprised 140 elders and maliks belonging to all tribes and sub-tribes, besides representatives of students and journalists of the tribal agency.

The governor said that the tribesmen would have to promote peace if they were keen in development. “Let us strive collectively to ameliorate the lot of common tribesmen,” the governor maintained.
