LAHORE, June 13: Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam of the Lahore High Court has called for a report and comments from the divisional forest officer (DFO) and others on a petition against cancellation of recruitment of foresters and forest guards.

The petition, filed by Nasir Ali and five others through advocate Amer Sohail Sheikh, submitted that they were issued appointment letters after a legal process of fitness tests, written tests and interviews, and were told to submit joining reports on May 23.

They submitted that when they reached the DFO’s office, he informed them that the entire recruitment had been cancelled on the instructions of higher authorities.

They contended that their recruitment was made under Recruitment Policy 2004 of the Punjab government, which states that any illegal recruitment will be probed by a complaint cell, but neither an inquiry was held nor legal requirements fulfilled in their case.

They prayed the court to declare the act of the respondents as illegal and direct them to allow them to join work.

QUARTER: The LHC on Tuesday ordered the respondents to hand over immediate possession of an official quarter to a petitioner, and report to the court on Wednesday (today).

The order was passed on a petition seeking possession of an official quarter allotted to petitioner Dr Iqbal Shahid in Jinnah Hospital Colony.

The petition, filed through advocate Mazhar Ghallu, submitted that he was allotted the quarter but was not given the possession by his predecessor.

MUTATION CASE: The LHC has called for a reply from a naib tehsildar of Charar village, Lahore Cantt in a petition seeking sanction of a certificate of mutation.

The petition, filed by advocate Masood Ghuman, submitted that the respondents were using delaying tactics in issuing him the mutation certificate.

He submitted that the final sale deed was obtained on June 24 2005, which was submitted to the respondent but his mutation had not been passed so far.

He prayed the court to take notice of the delay and direct the respondents to issue him the certificate. —APP
