PESHAWAR, July 20: An alleged outlaw was killed while a head-constable sustained critical injuries in a shootout here on Wednesday.

According to SHO Bedaber police station Abdur Rasheed, police acted on information that some criminals wanted in a murder case were hiding in the house of one Jamil the jurisdiction of the Bedaber police station.

A police party cordoned off the house and asked the outlaws to surrender, but they opened fire, said the SHO, adding that the police returned fire, which resulted in the killing of an outlaw who was yet to be identified.

Head Constable Aurangzeb was injured in the firing and was shifted to the hospital.

The police managed to arrest Niazdar and Jamil after an hour-long encounter, he said.

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Chief Haji Habibur Rehman visited the hospital to inquire about the health of the injured head constable, and directed best available treatment for him. —APP
