KARACHI, July 29: A weeklong course on “Community Development”, organized by the Municipal Training and Research Institute (MTRI), concluded here on Saturday at the MTRI Campus in Karachi.
As many as 53 participants from all over the country, comprising nazims, naib nazims, councillors of town, tehsil, UCs and TMO/TOs, and representatives of CCBs/N.H. councils participated in the training. Local Government and Rural Development LGRD, Special Secretary, Ghulam Arif, was the chief guest of the certificate distribution ceremony.
Welcoming the chief guest, MTRI, Principal, Muhammad Afzal Arain briefed the audience about the objective of the course and highlighted various aspects covered by the experts. He thanked the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) for their cooperation in organizing the event.
Later Ghulam Arif awarded the certificates o participants and discussed the entire concept of local government system, its philosophy and outcome since 2001. He urged the participants to encourage community participation in every social and development project of their respective areas.—PPI
