Landslide disrupts rail traffic

GUJAR KHAN, Aug 4: Landslide on Friday suspended the rail traffic on main track between Rawalpindi and Lahore for more than two hours.

According to the sources of Pakistan Railways, rocky boulders slid down at the mouth of railway tunnel passing through Tarraqi hills at about 8:30 am.

The railway gang men could partially clear the track at 10:30 am to allow the trains to pass through the tunnel. The trains were stopped at Sohawa, Gujar Khan, Dina and Jhelum railway stations.

The affected trains included 104 down, 8-down, 24-down, 171-up and 11-up.

The passage was completely cleared and now being guarded by PR men.
