JHANG, Aug 23: Former member of Jhang district council and Mahni Sharif’s Sajjada Nashin Sahibzada Fakhar Jehan was murdered and his companion seriously injured on Wednesday while on their way home on a motorcycle.

The Sahibzada was returning to his native village, Kot Lakhnana, from Jhang at about 7:30pm, along with Muhammad Sharif. When they reached near Chak 455, nine kilometres from here on Gojra Road, they were intercepted by Rab Nawaz and Jamshed, also on a motorcycle. Rab Nawaz opened fire, seriously injuring both the men. They were taken to the DHQ hospital by passersby, where Sahibzada Fakhar succumbed to his injuries at about 9pm. The condition of the injured man was stated to be serious.

The motive behind the murder is that the daughter of accused Rab Nawaz had eloped with Qaisar, a close relative of the Sahibzada, a few months ago. He supported Qaisar in the case registered against him.
