LAHORE, Aug 26: Chestnut colt, Quince, who galloped his rivals into the ground but lost the race on objection on Aug 13, will be on the trot to salvage stable's pride when the day and night Lahore Summer Meeting gets under way at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Quince is contesting in the fifth and supporting event, the Kotri Plate class V division I handicap race to be gone over 1200 metres.

The colt won the Independence Day Cup race but was disqualified following an objection for pressing Sher-i-Punjab, finished third behind Byron. The objection was upheld and Byron benefited to be the automatic winner.

Quince should win the race to restore confidence of jockey Shahid Rehman, who partnered him and lost after winning the race.

Eid, Simoom and Jut Bahadur may fight for less remunerative positions.

The feature event, the Shah Kot Plate class IV Division III, has a tiny field of only six runners. On form and handicap it looks a match between two colts, namely, Charismatic and Golden Goal.

Both the colts have performed exceedingly well at present but the performance on course of Charismatic is slightly better. This will be the sixth and last race of the day.

Volcano, Scarlet Empress and Shaba Queen look good among the 13 acceptors for the fourth race. They should finish in the same order.

High Hope and Dancing Star attract attention among the eleven drawn for the third race barring last-minute withdrawals. High Hope edges slightly better in the weight scales.

The first and second race consists of average runners, who are inconsistent performers, therefore often winner picking becomes a difficult task for the race-goers in these events. So will be better to skip these races.

All races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1200 metres, the first to go under starter's order at 5.30 pm.

Meanwhile the sire Cisco Wells, is clearly at the top of the table regarding the performance of the progenies of sires in winning races from July 2 August 20.

With nine victories to the credit of his progenies Cisco Wells has an indisputable lead in stallions table. Cisco Wells, who died three years ago was a son of leading European based sire Saddler's Wells.

Next to him are sires, Tora Bora, Baker's Gate and Bedouin Invader whose progenies have won four, three and three races, respectively.
