Body of Akbar Bugti found ISLAMABAD, August 27 (PPI) Federal Minister for Information, Muhammad Ali Durrani, addressing a news conference Sunday said the bodies of those killed in the Kohlu incident including Nawab Akbar Bugti have been taken out from the cave and will be buried in the presence of family members. He said the government has no information about the killing of the grand sons of Nawab Akbar Bugti. He said that the bunker type cave was dug out in a mud mountain which caved in either through exchange of firing or from the explosion from inside the cave. He said there are traces of mines and explosives and it may take sometime to take out all the bodies. He pointed out that it was a deep bunker and not natural cave. Replying to a question, Mr. Durrani said that the presence of Nawab Akbar Bugti in the cave was confirmed by people who were arrested from the area. He said there was no question of specially targeting Nawab Akbar Bugti. The area was identified on the 23rd of August when a helicopter came under fire. He rejected reports that the location of Nawab Akbar Bugti’s hideout was identified through his satellite telephone and described them as mere fiction. He said there is no curfew in Quetta, trains and PIA flights are operating and law and order situation is completely under control. (Posted @ 22:58 PST)

Former US president slaps down 'subservient' Blair LONDON, Aug 27 (AFP) - Former US president Jimmy Carter lashed out at British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Sunday for being "so compliant and subservient" to the Bush administration in Washington. "I have been surprised and extremely disappointed with Tony Blair's behaviour," Carter told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper as he promoted his new book "Faith and Freedom". "I think that, more than any other person in the world, the prime minister could have had a moderating influence on Washington, and he has not," said the 81-year-old former head of state. He faulted Blair for not having been a constraint on US President George W. Bush's decision to invade Iraq in March 2003 -- an invasion which, he said, subverted the fight against global terrorism. "We now have a situation where America is so unpopular overseas that, even in countries like Egypt and Jordan, our approval ratings are less than five percent," said Carter. "It's a shameful and pitiful state of affairs, and I hold your British prime minister to be substantially responsible for being so compliant and subservient." (Posted @ 09:29 PST)

Dozens of illegal immigrants feared dead off Mauritania NOUAKCHOTT, Aug 27 (AFP) - Dozens of illegal immigrants were feared drowned after 14 bodies were washed ashore in Mauritania Saturday, while another 179 people heading to Spain's Canary Islands were rescued before their boats sank, a police official said. There are probably "more bodies in the ocean and we must monitor the beaches, as the boats usually carry 90 to 96 people," said the police official who requested anonymity. "They were certainly illegal immigrants because we haven't had any reports of missing fishermen." However, Mauritanian authorities managed to rescue 179 illegal immigrants heading from Senegal to Spain's Canary Islands aboard two makeshift boats. One of the boats, with 92 people on board, had been taking on water for two days and broke up moments after the migrants were rescued. (Posted @ 09:20 PST)
