KARACHI, Sept 7: International Education Forum (IEF) Pakistan on Thursday demanded of the government to establish a national educational council for resolving all the educational issues from primary to university level, preparing curricula and chalking out a permanent educational system in the country.

Speaking at a press conference here, secretary-general of the IEF (Sindh Chapter) Dr Mohammad Ishaque said that the government had not taken serious steps for the promotion of education and always prepared educational system and curricula on ad hoc basis.

He said that our educational standard was declining as no practical steps were being taken for the betterment of this sector.

He said that despite passage of 59 years we have not able to produce talented and skilled persons according to our needs and still depending on foreign aids and technology.

Dr Ishaque said that government was now trying to follow the Indian Educational System and alleged that they were trying to impose secular educational system in the country on the directives of the US.

He said that the US and other western counties were considering Islam as a threat for them and continuously trying to destroy educational and cultural system of Islamic countries.

He informed that to pave way for a comprehensive education policy, the IEF was organizing a international education conference on Sept 9 in which various professionals and educational experts of different schools of thoughts would address and present their suggestions. —PPI
