ISLAMABAD, Sept 7: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday asked the additional district and sessions judges to uphold qualities of uprightness, honesty and commitment besides qualities of academics and experience.
“They should dispense justice to the litigants without fear and favour according to law,” CJ observed and suggested that they should establish such an example in their profession, which could be quoted as role model for the generation to come in this field.
He was speaking to the Additional District and Sessions Judges from the Punjab, presently attending eight-week Pre- Service Training Course at Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad, who called on him here on Thursday
CJ stated that cases should be decided judiciously and expeditiously without compromising on principles of justice, adding “as an authority is being conferred upon you and you are trustees to administer justice to the litigants and provide relief to the aggrieved.”
He also said, “you should specially take care of the poor and down-trodden people for provision of justice and relief in their cases; you are commanded to give decisions with honesty to the aggrieved persons according to the law.
He said dispensation of justice was an attribute of Allah Almighty and those appointed as such were his trustees. He said that the judicial training is essential for smooth and efficient working of the system of administration of justice and expressed the hope that the participants must have learnt a lot to improve their skill and competence to discharge their duties in this noble profession.—Staff Reporter
