KARACHI, Sept 13: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists on Tuesday demanded that the judicial commission’s report on the kidnap and killing of journalist Hayatullah Khan be made public.

A PFUJ press statement says the judicial commission, which held an in-camera inquiry, has reportedly submitted its report to the government.

“The government should now keep its promise of making the report public,” says the press statement.

AP adds: Paris-based Reporters Without Borders on Wednesday said the probes into Mr Khan’s death were complete and the inquiry commissions had sent their reports to authorities in Islamabad.

Weeks later, authorities have not made the reports public.

“The government clearly has no intention of releasing the full results,” Reporters Without Borders said in a statement. “The lack of transparency is shocking.”

Information Minister Mohammed Ali Durrani said on Wednesday the government’s law department has received the reports, and that they would be released after his ministry got them. He did not give any date.
