Cases may be sent to ACE: ‘Corruption’ of teachers
SIALKOT, Sept 13: The district government is considering a proposal to referring cases of corrupt teachers and education department officials to the Anti Corruption Establishment.
This was disclosed by Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema while addressing participants during a ceremony held for the distribution of prizes among male and female teachers for their outstanding performance here on Wednesday.
The nazim said the district government had completed a comprehensive working for purging the education department of corruption and politics.
He alleged that the former district government had promoted corruption in the education department by using officers and teachers for their political gains. A good number of appointments had been made bogus in the past.
The district nazim admitted that hundreds of male and female teachers had been getting their salaries without performing duties due to their political influence and corrupt practices of officials of the education department.
Mr Cheema expressed his grave concern over the nasty practice of preparing fake results of annual examinations by heads of government schools with the connivance of officials of the education department.
He urged the teachers to do away with the practice of politics and perform their duties honestly and with dedication.
The district nazim announced that all missing facilities would be provided to all government schools in the district by the end of year 2007 under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Education Sector Reforms Programme.
Naib Nazim Rana Ejaz Ahmad, EDO (Education) Dr Saifullah Cheema and a large number of officers and teachers attended the ceremony.
ELECTIONS: The canvassing campaign is in full swing for the annual elections of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). Both the ruling and opposing groups are making claims for their victory.
The polling for four vacant seats of the member class will be held on Sept 19 while polling for the seven vacant seats of associate class will be held on Sept 20.
