PESHAWAR, Sept 18: An explosive device went off in a parking area adjacent to the West Cantonment police station on Monday. The device, placed under a car went off at 4:20pm damaging 25 vehicles. Window-panes of the nearby Cantonment Hospital and other buildings on the busy Sunehri Masjid Road and Gulberg area were broken. No casualty was reported.

“First we thought a CNG kit had exploded, but later we saw a 2.5 feet crater under the blown up car which suggests it was a bomb,” said a police official.

A bomb disposal squad reached the place soon after the explosion. An official said: “We will first examine the material used in the explosion and then comment.”
