KARACHI: Full bench to take up remission matter


KARACHI, Sept 20: A full bench of the Sindh High Court will take up the matter about granting remission to prisoners convicted in NAB cases. This was decided by a division bench comprising SHC Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Yasmeen Abbasey on Wednesday after hearing a application moved by 33 convicts in different cases of NAB.

The bench also appointed Advocate Mohammad Illyas Khan as amicus curiae to assist the court.

The application was filed by 33 prisoners from the Central Jail on April 17 before the chief justice, who converted it into a constitution petition.

INSPECTION ORDERED: The High Court of Sindh on Wednesday ordered the inspection of the land sites in two separate petitions seeking directives of the court against alleged land grabbing in the area adjacent to Sandspit beach, Hawkesbay, Keamari.

A division bench of the SHC, comprising Justices Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery, appointed Advocate Mohammad Tasneem as commissioner to inspect the land site and adjourned the hearing till Oct 10.—APP
