LHC cuts life term to 10-year jail

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday commuted the life imprisonment and fines of two accused of heroin smuggling.

Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha and Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah heard the petition of Mitta Khan and Zahid Anwar. They had been arrested at Mullah Mansoor Check Post Attock while smuggling heroin weighing about 21 kilogrammes. A case was registered against them in the Hazro Police Station.

Both the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each by the lower court in Attock. They filed an appeal in the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court against the verdict of the lower court Attock which was heard Wednesday.— Staff Reporter
