PR to explore freight service with India

LAHORE, Sept 27: A four-member delegation of the Pakistan Railways will be leaving for India on Oct 2 to explore possibilities for starting freight service through Khokhrapar-Monabao section.

Sources said on Wednesday the delegation would discuss with their Indian counterparts matters like expansion of the existing passenger and freight traffic through Wagah-Atari route, resumption of the Khokhrapar-Monabao link, washed away by floodwaters, besides modalities to start freight service on the section.

Headed by Pakistan Railways additional general manager (freight) Ali Arif, the delegation comprises PR Ministry director (operations) Husain Ahmad Abid, Chief Operating Superintendent Maqsood Ahmad Khan and Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (wagons) Roshan Ali Mangi.

The PR delegation would hold talks on Oct 2-3 with the Indian railway authorities and likely to return home the following day, sources said.
