MQM lashes out at Shujaat

Published October 3, 2006

KARACHI, Oct 2: The Coordination Committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has severely criticised the remarks made against the party by the president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

In a strongly-worded rejoinder, the committee “reminded the Mulslim League leader that the Muttahida was the only political party in the country with established democratic traditions which it followed rigidly and held regular elections”.

It said that the Coordination Committee itself was an elected body and the party decided issues through consultations at different levels. To describe it as n undemocratic party was a ‘travesty of truth’.

The MQM Committee said that the PML(Q) had no political support. “It is an organisation of turncoats who changed their loyalty overnight and Chaudhry Shujaat is the leader of such people”.
