Asif fit for Champions Trophy

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 2: Paceman Mohammad Asif will be available for Pakistan for the next month’s ICC Champions Trophy as his pain in the upper back is not serious, declared his doctor Sohail Saleem.

"Asif as a precauationary measure may start bowling two days after the start of the training camp in Lahore as in fact there is nothing serious with his injury," Dr Sohail said.

He said that all medical tests of Asif determined the bowler would be fit for the game in next couple of days.

Asif felt the pain during the four-day match between domestic champions of India (Uttar Pradesh) and Pakistan (Sialkot) held at Dharamasala, India from Sept 27 to 30.

The short three-day training camp for the ICC Champions Trophy starts from Wednesday. The 14-member team will depart for India on Oct 7 to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy.
