Women’s rights to be protected: Jam

By Our Staff Correspondent

Quetta, Oct 5: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has said the government was implementing its policy successfully for giving due status to women in the society and ensuring their representation in elected institutions and other fields.

Talking to a delegation of women comprising students, lady doctors, working women and councillors at the Chief Minister’s House here on Wednesday, he said that the Women’s Rights Bill was also part of the government policy that would be passed unanimously.

Provincial Ministers Mir Asghar Rind, Mir Habib-ur-Rehman Mohammad Hasni and PML-Q Quetta city president Mir Abid Lehri was also present on the occasion.

The women’s delegation informed the chief minister about the problems being faced by the women in the province.

Mr Yousuf said women are an important part of the society and without their full participation one cannot think about social and economic development.

He said that Islam has determined the rights of women in an Islamic society and the government was taking steps for the protection of their rights, girls’ education, women’s training and providing them honourable employment.

He said that it was the result of steps taken by the government that a large number of girls were obtaining education and women had got representation in different institutions and fields and were playing an important role like males in the development of the country.

“We are proud of our two women who were inducted in the Pakistan Air Force as pilot on merit bases,” Mr Yousuf said and urged women to come forward and prove their ability following in the footsteps of both Baloch women pilots.
