KARACHI, Oct 11: A rally largely comprising fishermen communities of Karachi staged a demo here on Wednesday afternoon to protest against government’s plan to develop a new coastline city on the twin islands Bundar and Budda near the Port Qasim.

Carrying banners and placards, a large number of protestors, including women and children belonging to fishermen communities of the city, assembled in front of Karachi Press Club and raised slogans against the project which, they feared, would change the landscape of the area.

The rally was organized by the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum and was addressed by Mohammad Ali Shah, Saeed Baloch and a senior director of Fishermen Cooperative Society Haji Shafi Mohammad Jamote.
