CHAKWAL, Oct 11: The father of a minor girl, who died at District Headquarter (DHQ) hospital earlier this year due to negligence of medical staff, on Wednesday filed an application with the district and sessions judge for registration of a murder case against the hospital’s medical superintendent, his deputy and a child specialist.

Ghulam Shabbir, a resident of Balkassar village, through his counsel Malik Nadeem Iqbal contended that the SHO of City police station was reluctant to register a case despite the direction of Additional District and Sessions Judge Chakwal Malik Mohammad Akram Awan.

The petition stated that six-year-old Mubeen Bushra, daughter of Ghulam Shabbir, was brought to the DHQ hospital with complaints of high fever. Child specialist Dr Aamir had examined her in his private clinic and after getting the fee admitted her to the DHQ hospital Chakwal.

Later, in the night oxygen was provided to her by duty doctor Sheharyar after which Bushra’s condition improved. The duty doctor informed the MS Dr Tauqeer Minhas, deputy MS Chaudhry Saadat Ali and Dr Aamir that another oxygen cylinder should be provided for the patient.

However, the three doctors directed Dr Sheharyar to just place the mask on Bushra’s face so that her parents think that oxygen was being provided to their daughter. Later, Bushra died at 3:15am due to lack of oxygen.

POLICEMAN SUSPENDED: The in charge of Mulhal Mughlan police checkpost, sub-inspector Mohammad Naseer Shah, had been suspended after he recovered narcotics from a vehicle owned by one of the close relatives of a high-ranking police official.

A few days ago, the checkpost in charge intercepted a vehicle and seized huge quantity of charas from it. The driver - Mohammad Akhtar - managed to escape, however, the vehicle’s ownership was traced to Wajid Ali Shah, a resident of Badami Bagh Lahore. Resultantly, a case was registered against the accused.

It has been learnt that Wajid Ali contacted his relative who in turn informed the IGP Punjab that the sub-inspector had implicated the former in a drug case.

Later, the DIG Rawalpindi range suspended the sub-inspector and directed the DPO Chakwal to hold an inquiry.

After getting the news, four UC nazims of the area and more than 200 people staged a protest outside the checkpost against the suspension of sub-inspector Naseer Shah.
