Pro-US govt a security risk: MMA

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 11: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Maulana Asadullah Bhutto has said that the MMA will launch a mass movement to forece Gen Pervez Musharraf to shed his uniform and leave the government.

Mr Bhutto who belongs to the Jamaat-i-Islami and is a member of the National Assembly said at an Iftar party hosted by JI on Tuesday that the present pro-US government had become a security risk. It could harm very solidarity and integrity of the country, he feared.

He blamed the wrong policies of the general for the country’s ills and said the government’s days were numbered after it made changes in Hudood laws.

He accused the Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement of hatching conspiracies against efforts for the restoration of democracy by supporting the government on the Hudood Ordinance.

Local MMA leaders, Maulana Abdul Hafeez Siyal, Lala Noor Mohammad, Ahsan Ellahi Mughal and Zafar Iqbal Mujahid also spoke on the occasion.

POLICE CRITICISED: Rustam Khan Mari whose son and brother were killed and four people were injured in an attack allegedly by rival group on September 23 said on Wednesday that the police had failed in arresting the main accused.

Addressing a press conference he said that an FIR lodged at Khaan police station had identified Pehalwan Khan Mari as the main accused charged with killing his son, Hussein Bux Mari, and brother, Dost Ali Mari. They were residents of Deh 122 village of Hussain Bux Mari taluka.

Police arrest six accused but failed to get hold of the main accused, he said adding that his family would continue to feel insecure as long as the main accused was at large.

He demanded that the Sindh chief minister, home minister, Sindh IGP and RPO Hyderabad ensure immediate arrest of the main accused.
