Students booked for violence

SAHIWAL, Nov 2: Police on Thursday registered a case against seven students for blocking traffic and breaking screens of a bus on GT Road Harappa bypass. Reports said some students blocked traffic for two hours and smashed screens of a Lahore-bound bus (KBA-7165) as the driver did not board them. They also injured driver Latif, conductor Akram and helper Fazal.

A police contingent restored the traffic.

On the report of conductor Akram, the Harappa police have registered the case under Sections 427, 148 and 149 with no arrest.

TRANSFERS: District Police Officer Javed Husain Shah on Thursday transferred the entire staff of Chichawatni traffic police on corruption charges.

The transferred officials included two assistant sub-inspectors, as many head constables and five constables. They have been asked to report to police lines.

HEPATITIS-C: Three people have died of Hepatitis-C at the DHQ hospital during the last one week.

They have been identified as Bhagan (60) of Chak 70/4-R, Ahmed Khan (46) of Muslim Bin Aqeel Colony and Liaquat Ali (45) of Jahaz Ground.

Medical Superintendent Dr Sohail Baloch of DHQ hospital told the press on Thursday that the Punjab health department had set up a laboratory at Sahiwal and now jaundice test facility was available here. He said the victims were chronic patients.
