SCCI awards shields to journalists

Published November 3, 2006

PESHAWAR, Nov 2: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday awarded local newsmen shields in recognition of their service for highlighting problems of businessmen.

The shields were distributed by president of the Businessmen Forum Senator Ilyas Bilour, former president Sarwar Khan Mohmand, incumbent president Liaqat Ahmad Khan and senior vice-president Haji Israr Khan of the SCCI.

Earlier, Liaqat Ahmad Khan appreciated the role of newsmen in promotion of business activity in the province. He said efforts being made by the SCCI could not bear fruits without the support of media persons who highlight issues and problems of the community.

Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour said strong economy was a base for development and prosperity of any country but due to less industrialisation the province still had a high unemployment rate.—APP
