KARACHI, Nov 18: After a dip down for two days, the number of fresh patients, with symptoms similar to the dengue fever, took an upward turn again during the past 24 hours ending at 2pm Saturday.
According to Dengue Fever Cell (DFC) of Sindh Health Department, another 73 new patients reportedly suffering from viral haemorrhagic fever or dengue fever were admitted to 12 government and private hospitals. The number of fresh patients at hospitals was recorded as 37 on Friday.
A maximum of 20 new patients were brought to Liaquat National Hospital (LNH), followed by 13 at Dr Ziauddin Hospital (ZU) and 12 at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) during the past 24 hours. As many as 53 patients were discharged from hospitals after treatment.
Of the 3,801 people with viral fever and admitted to Karachi hospitals till Saturday 1,334 were reported as confirmed dengue cases. During the last five months 43 people died of dengue fever, including 39 those reported from the city hospitals.
Dr Tajammul Baig of the DFC said that 3,898 patients of dengue or viral haemorrhagic diseases were admitted to various hospitals in the province since June last, out of which 1,381 had been tested positive for dengue fever.
According to DFC data, the positions of patients in different hospitals on Saturday remained as follows:
Aga Khan University Hospital -24(10 new), Liaquat National Hospital-48 (20), Civil Hospital Karachi-10 (3), Dr Ziauddin Hospital-59 (13), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre-24(12), Bismillah Taqee Hospital-23(26), NICH-9(1), Abbasi Shaheed Hospital-44(no new), Baqai Hopsital-10 (no new), Patel Hospital-2(1), Darul Shifa-11(1), Kutiyana Hospital-3(2), Lyari General Hospital-3(1).
