MULTAN, Nov 18: Punjab Bar Council (PBC) vice-chairman Azhar Chaudhry said on Saturday that the LLB course will be of five years’ duration instead of three years from 2008.
He said at a press conference here on Saturday that age limit of 26 years was being fixed for admission to LLB from the same year.
He said an entrance test would also be introduced for admission to LLB and candidates obtaining 60 per cent marks would be eligible for admission.
He said the entrance test would be enforced at national level.
Mr Chaudhry said after the introduction of entrance test on the pattern of medical and engineering degree courses, the prevalent system of a test for the issuance of licence to practice as an advocate would be abolished.
The officials having bad reputation would not be awarded licence to work as a lawyer after retirement. The new entrants’ integrity would be scrutinized, he added.
PBC members, including Arif Alvi, Arbab Syed, Altaf Ibrahim and Akram Bhatti were also present on the occasion. — APP
