Shoaib Akhtar’s act of disdain

Published December 19, 2006

HYDERABAD, Dec 18: Showing lack of concern and disrespect to the national cricket team, Shoaib Akhtar said he would not comment on the team’s recent win against the West Indies as he did not watch matches when he was not playing.

It was an expression of utter disdain from the injury-prone fast bowler while talking to Dawn on Monday.

About a possible action by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against his exoneration along with Mohammad Asif for taking banned steroid, Shoaib said he had no idea if the WADA was challenging the decision of the anti-doping tribunal.

About his availability for upcoming tour of South Africa, the express bowler said he would be fully fit by end of the current month. “I am half fit but by end of December I will regain full fitness.”
