RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in a hotel room while another was shot dead in front of his house on Saturday, police said.

In the first incident, Khurram Shahzad, a resident of Gujar Khan, was found stabbed to death in his hotel room in Rawalpindi.

According to information obtained by the police, Khurram got married to his cousin, who lived in the United Kingdom, about one-and-a-half years ago. But she left for the UK after six months.

Khurram had got information that his wife, Saira, was coming to Rawalpindi from UK on Saturday, and wanted to see him. He booked a van (LHZ-2517) from Gujar Khan and came to Rawalpindi along with his friend Nayyar Nawaz to meet his wife. On reaching Rawalpindi Nayyar Nawaz booked a room in a hotel located at Rialto Chowk.

Khurram then asked Nayyar to leave him alone for sometime. Shortly when Nayyar left the hotel, a couple (a girl wearing trousers and a boy) arrived and went straight to Khurram Shahzad’s room. After about 20 minutes, the couple hurriedly left, police said.

At this the hotel staff got suspicious and went to Khurram’s room and found him lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to DHQ Hospital but he died on the way.

Police have taken Nayyar Nawaz into custody for interrogation. It is to be investigated whether the girl, who visited Khurram’s room with another man, was his wife or somebody else.

Quoting the deceased, Nayyar told the police that Khurram had told him that his wife was coming to Rawalpindi for two hours to meet him.

According to hospital authorities, Khurram Shahzad had been stabbed three times. He was the only son of his parents.

In another incident, a man was shot dead outside his house in Chaklala on Saturday.

Police said Arif Hussain, son of Ghulam Nabi, was residing in a house along with his brother Ghulam Shafiq in Chaklala.
