GUJRANWALA, Jan 15: About a dozen electronic goods shops were reduced to ashes in a fire which erupted when a gas cylinder exploded in an adjacent shop in Peoples Colony’s main market here on Monday.

Reports said that fire from a barbeque stall caused the gas cylinder in a shop to burst. As a result, the fire engulfed the nearby electronic goods shops.

The area residents and shopkeepers, with the help of four fire engines, put out the fire after four-hour struggle. But, in the meantime, almost all goods in the shops were gutted.

The shopkeepers were busy estimating the loss.

STRIKE: The district bar association observed a complete strike to protest against the killing of advocate general Arif Bhinder and others in Lahore, demanding early arrest of the accused.

The lawyers stayed away from court proceedings and held a meeting at bar hall presided over by DBA head Ilyas Rehan. The meeting condemned the assassinations and demanded arrest of the culprits.
