NEW DELHI, Jan 16: At least seven policemen were killed in a landmine ambush by suspected Maoist rebels on Tuesday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, a report said.
The Press Trust of India said two of those killed were officers while the rest were constables on patrol duty.
Police blamed the attack on Maoist rebels and said the patrol was ambushed with a landmine in the state's Bastar district, an area populated by local tribes around 500 kilometres south of regional capital Raipur.—AFP
